Blogger Spotlight #2: Tina!

Introducing: Tina from onemorepage.tinamats.com

========================

What e-reader do you own and how did you get it?
- I own a Kindle! :) I got it by ordering through Amazon and having it sent to my dad who works in Northern Marianas Islands. My mom, who was visiting him then, carried it home to me (I live in the Philippines btw). Funny thing was, I ordered a Kindle two days before the announcement for Kindle 3 arrived. Talk about timing.

Did you consider other readers in the market? Why did you pick this one?
- At first I really didn't want this because I thought my Kindle for iPod and Stanza (an ebook reading app in the iPod) were enough. Then a friend told me she got a Kindle and she loves it, and I finally started thinking about it. I thought about getting a B&N nook, too, since other people swear by it...but then I have already bought some books from Amazon for my iPod and I realized that I have always been an Amazon girl.

When do you read a paper book and when do you pick up an ebook?

- I haven't really worked out a criteria on when I'd get a paper book or an ebook. First, it was only based on availability. Hard to find/newly released books are always available in Kindle before they get here, so I planned on that...but then after computing, I realized paper books were still cheaper even if I have to wait. So now, I weigh it a lot. I only buy ebooks if I know it's more expensive in print -- for example, CS Lewis' books are about Php600 here (around USD 12) but in Kindle, it's only $9.99. Sometimes if I feel the need to splurge or if I really, REALLY want the book, I get the ebook. I figure, if I love the book and the author so much, I wouldn't mind spending on the paper copy just so I have it too. :)

What is your favourite recent read?
Okay this is kind of hard! I loved Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series and I can't wait for the next one. I also just read Paper Towns by John Green and really liked it, also The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. :) Right now I'm reading Paranormalcy by Kiersten White and I'm enjoying it a lot. :)

  1. Nice post! I think I'm getting a Kindle for Christmas. I debated about getting a Nook. But when I looked at the Nook I wasn't all that impressed...especially with the prices of ebooks. Even though I won't be able to check ebooks out from my library with a Kindle, I think the amount of free books makes up for it. My library doesn't offer that many ebooks anyways!

    P.S. Thanks for stopping by The Prairie Library!
