Yay! My first Hop! I'm the 302th entrant for this week :D
The book blogger hop is hosted by http://www.crazy-for-books.com, and the idea is for the event to last over the weekend to give everyone a chance to visit the other bloggers.
*waves* Hiiii to all the folks stopping over from the Hop.
The question this week (one answers a new Q each week) is:
Do you use a rating system for your reviews and if so, what is it and why?
I use a simple grading system (A, B+, B- and so on). I find it is more flexible than stars or smilies, though I wish I had a cute graphic icon I could sort of 'paste' onto the reviews. There have been one or two reviews where I haven't felt qualified to grade, they are just so stunningly outside the grade curve!
I think of this blog as more than a review blog - about 25% of my posts are about ebook readers, and I have lots of cute, book-related, graphics that I re-post(with credits) from the brilliant folks that create.
If you are a Kindle/Ebook-Reader user, or would like the pure convenience of converting any book format to any OTHER book format, I would highly recommend you read this very useful post on using Calibre with the Kindle/Sony/Nook!
Thanks for your comment! :) Looks like we like some of the same stuff... can't wait to see more posts from you!
ReplyDeleteJust popping in via the hope to say hi! I think the grading system does give you a little more flexibility, I do a star rating system and sometimes feel limited but it helps me stick to my point:) Glad to be a new follower of yours!
ReplyDeleteYour system does allow for a little more flexibility for those books that fall in between. Sometimes there are books that I'm not too crazy about, and I wonder where do they fall in my system. Sometimes I'm just now wowed by a book, but I didn't hate it either. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hopping by! I like the idea of a grade system, seems like it might be a little easier to rate that way. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDelete@Emily, @Jenny, I'm following you both now :)
ReplyDelete@Bookangel - You are so right! I just give myself that steady B to assign to the 'Meh' books :)
@Candance - Thanks!
I'm happy to have run across your blog. And just in time, as I need help with e-books.

Hey! Thanks for stopping by! I'm your newest follower too! How did you get the reaction thing at the bottom of your post? I have seen few blog with it, but can't figure it out!
ReplyDeleteHave a good day.
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI think for a lot of book bloggers that blog often and consistently reviews only count for a small portion of their posts. I know I don't have the funds or the time to read and review nearly as much as I blog!
ReplyDelete& thanks for stopping by!!
found you through the hop, and thanks for stopping by my blog! I really like the design of your site, sleek and clean.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog... I though I'd return the hop! It's too bad that you probably won't be able to take part in The Contemps challenge. I mean, I probably won't be able to fully complete it myself since it's a lot of books to buy but I can at least do my best to read as many as I can....
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I hope you've been having a great weekend! :)
Just found you via the Hop. I'm enjoying my look around! Have a wonderful weekend.
