It's time for another Book Blogger Hop, courtesy of Crazy for Books!
“What's the One genre that you wish you could get into, but can't?"
Poetry maybe? There really isn't much I don't read - but super serious "Literature" like Salman Rushdie, The God of Small Things (Arundhati Roy) have been hard to get into. I never did finish any of those books.
So Poetry, some Literature, that sort of thing.
New to E-Volving Books? I'm on the cusp of 300 followers, and I will follow back! Be my 300th :)
I love to read, review, write about news in Speculative Fiction - YA or epic fantasy, typically. I have a Kindle, though I still read paper books for variety!
I'm currently looking for a blogger who wants to do a post exchange (your choice of topic)

I love poetry, but it comes in so many varieties, it can be hard to find one that really works for you. I /despise/ plenty of poetry, but it still makes me want to hunt down the good stuff (Yeats, Eliot).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Brandon Sanderson rec for high fantasy!
I have a friend who loans me his poetry books. Other than that I don't read much.
ReplyDeleteSince last week's pie chart about where I get my books was so popular, I thought I'd share what types of books I do read. Please stop by to see which genres I don't typically read.
Hi there, I'm hopping through & following you.

I get what you're saying about poetry. Reading a poem or two is nice, but just sitting down and devouring a book is a little daunting and feels repetitive/static.

I'm not much of a literary fan either. Completely weird since I got my degree in English. I've come across some random few titles that I liked, but not enough. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog earlier!
Have a GREAT weekend!
I can't get into science fiction, paranormal or fantasy very easily. There are exceptions like Harry Potter though, that make it worthwhile considering this genre.
ReplyDeleteI am an old follower (GFC)
I have to be in the right mood for poetry. I'm hopping through and following! Please visit my hopping post here.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
There are certain poets whom I will read over and over again. Have you ever read Allen Ginsberg or David Trinidad's "'Answer Song," which are all interpretations on popular films? Also, Anne Sexton's "Transformations" was brilliant and fun to read since they were retold fairytales with an extremely dark bent.
ReplyDeleteGive 'em a shot!
Smiles!
