What e-reader do you own and how did you get it?

Did you consider other readers in the market? Why did you pick this one?
- At first I really didn't want this because I thought my Kindle for iPod and Stanza (an ebook reading app in the iPod) were enough. Then a friend told me she got a Kindle and she loves it, and I finally started thinking about it. I thought about getting a B&N nook, too, since other people swear by it...but then I have already bought some books from Amazon for my iPod and I realized that I have always been an Amazon girl.
When do you read a paper book and when do you pick up an ebook?
- I haven't really worked out a criteria on when I'd get a paper book or an ebook. First, it was only based on availability. Hard to find/newly released books are always available in Kindle before they get here, so I planned on that...but then after computing, I realized paper books were still cheaper even if I have to wait. So now, I weigh it a lot. I only buy ebooks if I know it's more expensive in print -- for example, CS Lewis' books are about Php600 here (around USD 12) but in Kindle, it's only $9.99. Sometimes if I feel the need to splurge or if I really, REALLY want the book, I get the ebook. I figure, if I love the book and the author so much, I wouldn't mind spending on the paper copy just so I have it too. :)

Nice post! I think I'm getting a Kindle for Christmas. I debated about getting a Nook. But when I looked at the Nook I wasn't all that impressed...especially with the prices of ebooks. Even though I won't be able to check ebooks out from my library with a Kindle, I think the amount of free books makes up for it. My library doesn't offer that many ebooks anyways!
