Book Blogger Hop #10: Nov 5-8th

Book Blogger HopThis is a weekly PARTY hosted by Jen at Crazy For Books. It's a chance to discover new blogs and to garner new readers for your blog as well.

This Week's Question:
"What are your feelings on losing followers? Have you ever stopped following a blog?"
I do get worried when I see the count of followers go down, and I'm still not sure what I could be doing wrong. I think the next contest I have, I probably shall not make it exclusively for followers - hopefully only folks that are interested in my blog follow.

There are several blogs I enjoy reading and commenting on. These bloggers are friends on Goodreads and on Twitter as well. With that level of interaction, I am never going to stop following! Remember, follow me, leave a note here, and I will follow back.
I have occasionally stopped following a blog, though just ones that stopped posting, usually.

Coming up soon, my review of Towers of Midnight (this is why my posts this week are so few).

  1. Hey :) You know I totally overlooked the contest aspect of it and it makes alot of sense. I'm with you on the wondering about what I did wrong as well. It's hard with not knowing why.

I'm off to explore your site. Having a Kindle has totally opened up my eyes to the amazing ebook. Have a fun weekend :)

  2. I know what you mean. People who interact frequently with you and your blog are usually the ones I have the most fun with!

Hope you have a great weekend!

  3. I was too lazy to post the Book Blogger Hop.
As for my feelings about losing followers - it does feel really bad.Like you, I also feel that its my fault somehow.Next time, I think I will take your advice and not make my contests open only to followers.

  5. Goodreads & Twitter do help to build up the interaction between blogs, make you feel a little more attached to them.

  6. Me too. I rarely unfollow, and when I do it's because I see there's been no updates from the blog for months.

  7. I have very mixed thoughts on only followers being able to enter competitions. On the one hand why shouldn't people who follow your blog be rewarded? But then again isn't it better to have true followers who really enjoy your blog rather than people who simply sign up as followers in order to enter a competition or giveaway?

  8. @TheBookishSnob - I enjoy following your blog, thanks for checking mine out!
@Natalie - You split up your followed-blogs on the reader, I plan on doing that too..Already I have a subset of blogs that I visit often, but I need to enlarge that pool.

@Misha - I didn't do the hop last weekend..But about the contests, I am not sure yet..still thinking about what is the best thing to do.

@bookdout - I do follow you now!! Just cause I wanted to :D

@Jennifer - Familiar faces are always nice to see on your blog..
    @Kah - Good to know!

@Petty - I really don't know yet - perhaps the ones who follow should have a big advantage over the non-followers in a contest?

  11. I agree, I'm not one for "unfollowing" blogs either, but if some don't post for a month, I figure they're shutting down the blog or just aren't going to keep it up anymore :( Have a great weekend!

  13. It was certainly interesting for me to read the article. Thanx for it. I like such topics and everything connected to them. I definitely want to read more on this blog soon. BTW, rather good design you have here, but don’t you think it should be changed from time to time? I mean it :)

  16. I always feel like just keep doing your thing and you'll attract the people who are into your thing and you don't have to please all the rest!

    Book bloggers are cool.
