Book Blogger Hop - July 20th to 26th

Welcome to my stop on the Book Blogger Hop!

Q: What’s the ONE super-hyped book you’ll NEVER read?
The most polarizing question I've seen here yet! I haven't done the hop in a while (thanks to being busy with my new born baby) but this question just pulled me right back in!

I'd have to say the Twilight series is my "never gonna read" point. I haven't the slightest bit of interest in reading them, though I LOVE paranormal/fantasy/space fantasy books (Ilona Andrews, Brandon Sanderson, Patricia Briggs, Bujold, ..tell me when to stop!). You name it, I've probably read it or started the series.
Still, Twilight just rubs me the wrong way. Apologies to the Twihards out there!

  1. Hi -thanks for visiting me over at lowfell writers place. So, you've seen my answer. I haven't read nor was I ever tempted to read Twilight -I wasn't having anything to do with that hype but then I happened to get engrossed in the first movie and I'm afraid i was hooked after that. I'm still not tempted to read the books and actually it's not really a genre I'd ever go for. The only sci-fi I've recently dipped into has been Terry Pratchett but I do love his style.
I'm now following you. Congrats on being a new mum. Best wishes.

  2. I'm totally not interested in Twilight either. I've heard about it, I've read the summaries, I've seen the commercials. Just not interested.

I'm following by email and Congrats on being a new mom!

    1. Hi Amanda, I can completely understand reading Twilight before it got mega famous - I've done that to a few authors :)

  4. I haven't read Twilight, but I've heard good reviews from some people I trust, so I'll probably give it a go one day! :) New follower, nice to meet you.

    1. Rachel, It IS very hard to say "NEVER" right? Sure, who knows, it might be the only book I find in a waiting room or something someday :D

  6. Congrats on your new baby. I agree about Twilight, but I also agree with the most popular answer of the day!!! :) I have no interest in the book at all.

It was all over the bookstores in Scotland....front and center. UGGH.

Stop by my blog for my full answer if you like.

  7. Agreed about 'Twilight' - but you know me! Any insider gossip on 'Game Of Thrones'? I've heard the TV programme is good, but the books are driving some people nuts! Good or bad?

    1. Ohhh that's a tricky question - I haven't finished the second book in the ASOFAI series even after three attempts..*sigh*. A Game of Thrones itself was an okay read, though with GRRM one can't be sure which character he will kill off next!

  8. I read Twilight when I was in 9th grade and loved it then. I have read a lot of better books, and I really don't like it anymore. I tried to re-read it and hated it. New follower!

  9. Thanks for stopping by my blog! New follower here :)
I have about the same taste as you (how dare you forget mighty Pratchett?) and I actually liked Twilight, but I never came around to reading the last book, because somebody told me about that imprinting on a baby shit and I was like WTF is the author trying to tell us?? Also, I hate when the main characters get pregnant and the author tells us about the joys of motherhood. If I wanted to read about that stuff I wouldn't read fantasy/paranormal but family sagas or something. Bleh.

  11. Ages since I've hopped. What an interesting question. I must confess I eventually gave in to the pressure and read the Twilight books, it's the 50 Shades Of Grey trilogy that I am adamant I will not read.

    1. I hopped this week just because of the question :)
These two series of books were the only ones that repeatedly came up on the hop!

  12. I have to completely agree with you. Twilight? Sorry, I can't do it. My girlfriend called the other day(she won't read them either)to say she took one for the team and watched the first movie. Apparently it was the only thing on. Said it was awful. I still can't bring myself to watch it. Sparkly vampires? Really? The only thing he'd be allowed to do to me is my hair.
